Remember how I found fabric for curtains…. Well, I’m over that. I did the math and it would amount to about $550 to get these babies lined and sewn, not to mention the pain in the neck of finding a seamstress, getting the materials, etc. etc.
So……… I implore – any ideas for where to start shopping for a cheaper, quicker version of these yellow Belle curtains? I’ve never shopped for such a thing before.

I hate to break it to you, but $500ish is pretty good for custom curtains! You won’t find curtains like that in a store. Most curtains that are sold as “curtain panels” in packages come with either tabbed tops, a pocket top, or grommet tops. I have never seen a pinch-pleat like this in a ready-to-hang curtain :(
But Heather. I’m CHEAP. There must be an alternative. There simply must.
There’s no alternative unless of course you learn how to sew! I think PB sells pinch pleat don’t they, did you try Ballard Designs?

Betsy, curtains are the easiest thing to sew – I say get the fabric and do it yourself! (and yes $500 is very reasonable for custom curtains!) You’re not going to find anything like that in a PB-type store. – Kathy (Meyer) Larson

Yay Meyers! I love your vote of confidence in my ability to sew… I think you’re right – but I don’t know if anyone is aware of how decidedly lazy I can resort to when feeling challenged by tedium.

Also, one of my local seamstresses that I use for altering clothing does window treatments and bedding and is way cheaper than the interior design places. Maybe there’s someone similar in your area.
I bought PB Peyton linen drapes like that a couple months back for about $30 each on clearance. They’re lined, heavy and can be pole top or hung from rings. I have four panels and would consider selling them if you’re interested (I had custom ones made). They’re 108″ long. I know exactly what you mean — I looked and looked for affordable curtains and immediately bought these PB ones b/c I knew I wouldn’t find a deal like this anywhere. Cheaper than buying the fabric alone!
