Vignettes are beautiful inside and now that Spring is here building vignettes outside is the right idea. Â The most common outdoor display would be constructed of containers but we saw this idea recently in Sunset magazine and thought it was pretty sweet and inexpensive.
A lot of us probably have a boring old privacy fence and instead of incurring the expense of a fountain or water feature to elevate the look, why not try some old or new wood to create shelves to showcase some small succulents and container plantings. Attach the boxes to the fence, pop in some plants, I recently bought some succulents and plants in 4″ pots at IKEA for $1.99 and you’ve just dressed up your fence.

Sarah, I like this idea alot. I spent the weekend potting herbs for my porch and it brought some much need interest to the house. Also – those plants that you gave me last year are all thriving – outta control. (well except the little tiger grass guy – your fav, he’s a little slow.)
Oh, I love this! Hmmmm now I’m thinking about where I can do something similar. Right after our 8 inches of snow melts!
Hi Joyce!!! Your yard is an inspiration in itself. I wish I had had some forethought when I was living there, to take pictures. I’d love to share your water feature with our blog readers if you have images you’d send.
Keep us posted if you execute the outdoor vignette post-snow.
Thanks for stopping by!!
Love,
Betsy
