We were perusing our movie options on Netflix earlier this week and considered The Panic in Needle Park, an early Al Pacino movie. My mind wandered to Joan Didion because she wrote the screenplay. I read Didion’s The Year of Magical Thinking a couple of years ago, I’m not likely to forget her tragic story of loss any time soon. The book is highly recommended.
On a lighter note here are some items for potential perusal,
Hot lamp roundup here.
This outfit does the kind of remodeling work I like!
Well played Bryn with that little match trick in your powder room
Novogratz and family have a new show premiering on HGTV
You know those moments when you realize that the internet encompasses everything– well I was wondering if the site of the house party in the movie Shag was an actual residence and I happened upon this site, although I learned a lot I’m still wondering about the house
Nice redo of some dining chairs using Chiang Mai
OH man. Just read a lot of that SHAG site and totally loved it – particularly the part about the more correct dress of the era.
Bass Weejun loafers are the kind of shoes that my mom always talked about whenever we talked about wanting what the other kids had that we couldn’t have b/c of not enough money.
I hoped you would jump right on reading this, wonder if anyone else has seen it as many times as we have?
I’ve been wanting design by 9 to come back on… I hope this show with the Novogratz is good too. I stumbled upon their house with the chain-link dome on the roof, the one for the basketball court, while I was walking around Little Italy in NYC… it was a complete happy accident!
Love the fact that you stumbled on one of their houses.
A Year of Magical thinking made me sob. I loved it.

I am a local in Myrtle Beach and a huge fan of your blog and of the movie Shag! I know of two houses that were featured in the movie Shag. I have attached a link to one of the houses featured homes, it is currently for sale. http://www.the-morrison-group.com/burchap.html
The party house is also located in Myrtle Beach in The Dunes Club subdivision on Fairway Road. I couldn’t find any good pictures but I live in the adjoining neighborhood and run by this house each day. My husband grew up in Myrtle Beach and we know many of the extras that were cast in the movie. I love that you are so interested in this house, it is one of my Myrtle Beach favorites!
Holy cow Elizabeth! This is awesome, I can’t believe Pudge’s house is 1.3 mil, I looked at the listing. It is Pudge’s house right? My friend & I were just debating that. I want to ride by and see the party house and I just might do that the next time I’m in MB.
I read this entry and took an uber to this house on fairway Rd. I don’t believe that it is the house because there is no arch above the door. It is very close, though.
This makes me so excited that I have finally found out where the party house of the movie Shag is. I am such a huge fan of that movie and have been trying to find out where it is for a long time now. I am going to be visiting Myrtle Beach next weekend and will def. be going to make a trip by there :D thanks
I have seen that movie a million times (and was living at Pawley’s when they filmed it) but don’t remember that house. Will have to pull out the old VHS tape and watch it this weekend. I actually had several friends that are in various scenes of the movie and always get a kick out of watching them onscreen all these years later.
