Steven Gambrel on the colorgray–
“The color I find most beautiful and chic is gray. But it’s very hard to procure that perfect, soft, luminescent, silvery gray shade you see in gunmetal, silver, zinc or pewter. To try to get that color in a surface that’s nonreflective and doesn’t have a three-dimensional quality is the challenge. I often try a dozen samples just to find one gray. But if it’s simplicity you crave, there’s a divine gray that almost always works: Benjamin Moore’s Horizon. If a friend calls me and says, ‘Help! What do I do?’ I reply, ‘Paint the walls Horizon and trim white.’ Think of a gray suit with a white shirt, It’s a nice clean story, and you can go in a hundred different directions with the tie.”

Mr. Gambrel couldn’t be more right. And I considered Horizon, it shares the same color chip with Moonshine.
At the beginning of this process I began with three color samples and neglected to include one of my favorite grays- Gray Owl. Well, now its included. So beginning from the top we have,
1. Paperwhite 2. Wickham Gray 3. Moonshine 4. Gray Owl
samples shown in the downstairs hallway
The choice is…oh you’ll have to wait until we paint the room!
Thank you all so much for your comments and opinions, I enjoyed hearing about your selection process and some of the grays you selected. Thanks for playing,
Grey has become one of my most favorite colors as well! It is a classic and is the perfect natural background. I am so very excited to see your bedroom.
I’m wondering if you have considered a painted ceiling?!
