Take Note: Textured Walls

There was a time that I was looking at sponge painting and thinking that it was gonna make a comeback. And you thought I was crazy and I wondered if I was too. And of course I took it too far and posted a pic of a sponge roller with teal paint straight from my 1990s middle school decor dreams.

But here are some real examples of textured walls and or paint techniques in that prophesied comeback, albeit executed in a modern way that you might actually be able to get behind.

I was tempted by this for the mountain house when we chose to refinish all the walls to get away from the 90s knockdown texture, but ultimately decided to go flat and matte. There is enough texture in that space with all the wood, and maybe this new plaster look is best reserved for European Farmhouse inspired or Spanish Colonial.
