One of the elements that I liked most in Lulu DK’s bedroom featured in Lonny is the matching pair of three drawer chests that serve as bedside tables.
I too would like to have a matching pair of chests on either side of my bed for added storage. So I started doing a little online searching, knowing that I’m more likely to get the best deal in thrift/consignment store or auction.
Williams Sonoma Home offers the Fontaine Inlay Chest which is a good option. WS Home describes it as a reproduction of an Italian antique. It would transition well in to other rooms. However, the 2K price tag is a bit much for me.
After searching for Italian chests on Ebay like the one below, I noticed that the price hovered around $2K and above. So I decided I’d better get off the Italian kick and move on to something not quite as old or ornate.
best price so far, $795 and these are in NC
these Henredon commodes are just right! $3,500 however is not
These mahogany chests are lovely and simple but again with the high price tag
Another petite Georgian set, price is a little better
Love this one that was on OKL recently, even so it was $2300…for one. Edward Ferrell and Lewis Mittman
After searching its obvious that a pair of chests that don’t need an overhaul is an investment. What piece of furniture are searching for?
Thanks for playing,

End tables! I have been searching high and low at thrift shops, antique stores and online. Need something that’s round, 24″ diameter and approx. 24″ tall (a bit taller would be OK, but definitely not shorter). Just can’t seem to find what I’m looking for at a decent price point.
I was also searching high & low for matching chests to use as nightstands. I lucked out. I found 2 Mahogany chests at my local flea market. They were from the 50’s but had been completly refinished inside & out. They were beautiful!!! I got both for $700.
SCORE!! So don’t give up. It took me almost a year to find them.
