I went to the Raleigh, NC flea market on Sunday because it was 81 degrees! I thought it was a good omen when we scored a parking place near the entrance without having to ride around for 20 minutes. We walked in and saw a good number of vendors, things were looking good-I had a strong feeling.
But ultimately-Â I regret to inform you that I walked away with zero. Nothing was even really photo worthy. Except for one thing.
This print. It was big, it was abstract but the paper was slightly discolored in one spot, it needed a whole new frame job and I liked it. How much is it? $60. OK, I’ll walk around some more and see if it sells. The whole day went by and the print remained.
I went back over and said I’d offer $30, the vendor said $35 and so it was a deal. Let me go get some cash and I’ll be back. One 20 minute restroom shenanigan with DC and I return. The print is gone, vendor sold it.
I’m fine with it…it wasn’t meant to be.
Lesson learned-offer the vendor the $10 you have in your pocket as a down payment to hold it.
If you are wondering the artist’s name is Aldo Luongo. Thanks for playing,
Hi, Well you are a much better sport than I am! I missed buying the peacocks you had on etsy because I wanted to think it over for a few minutes … got distracted … decided to buy them … they were gone! I’ve been moaning about it ever since to anyone who will listen (which is not many!). I’m sorry you lost out on this picture; I like it too! Love your site and your store,
Laurie
Laurie-Hopefully we’ll have something else at the Estate Sale that you like just as much as the peacocks!
That’s a bummer but there will always be others. Funnily enough it looked familiar to me and it’s because a print by the same artist was featured in the premiere episode of secrets from a stylist. (http://www.stylebyemilyhenderson.com/blog/first-look-details-hollywood-regency.html)
That’s a sad story:( That print is so cool…never seen anything like it before.
Third time is a charm.
