What’s been going on? Well….I did a little of this
A painted stair runner.
Ok so I didn’t do it, professional painters did it. I told the painters that people in the blogosphere said Frog tape was all that. So they used it. The verdict, it costs more and the blue tape is just as good. Clear floor epoxy was applied to protect those precious stripes. The epoxy had a yellow tinge to it for a couple of days but then it processed
This is not in my house, although I wish it was because it’s darn cute. It is in a rental house in downtown Southern Pines, NC.
If you’re wondering all the colors are Benjamin Moore, Stone Brown, Icy Morn and the white is Richards 700 Oil Enamel. Thanks for playing,
How well does the epoxy hold up over time? Just wondering how quickly the paint begins to wear under climbing feet.
I never miss one of your blog posts. I wait for it, anticipate its arrival to my inbox like the coming of Spring, but I have yet to ever comment (I blame the ease of my Google Reader).
So I find it oddly fitting that today, of all days, I break down and break my silence to say that I absolutely and completely LOVE this house. Where exactly is it?
The stairwell? To die for.
xoxo
Wait, Southern Pines, NC ;)
I need to skim less.
dude! that’s hot!
Yeah you did Sarah!! a Great idea!!
Lucky renter….. :)
Love you.
Betsy
Love those colours!
Amanda-This epoxy is supposed to be tough as nails, we applied a different kind of epoxy to some teak bath vanities in a rental two years ago, water has splashed on to these surfaces and they look untouched. Think of it as like a very thin plastic coating.
Chrissa- You should comment everyday! Thanks for reading.
Really? I’ve had much better luck with Frog tape than with the blue (and they’re the same price at my local Lowe’s).
Molly-I don’t really know from experience, just repeating what the painter said. I didn’t verify the price either.
*sigh* <3
Another lurker here….and I LOVE this idea! Wish I could turn my generic ranch into something as sweet and charming as this house :) What’s the wall color in the stairwell?
Also, any chance you can share your info on the blue paint and flooring in the guest bath from Bungalow 404? That tile looks like exactly what I want in my mudroom.
Thanks for all the inspiration!
Hi Kerry-You can totally turn your generic ranch into something even sweeter than Bungalow 404. The color in the stairwell is Benjamin Moore Icy Morn. I’m actually partial to BM’s Healing Aloe though, tack it up on the wall and live with it for a while, see if you like it.
The wall color in the guest bath at Bungalow 404 is BM Silver Crest. The floor tile is great it reminds me a lot of soapstone. I’ll have to look that up for you.
Hi Sarah – Thanks so much for the reply! I saw that you had Icy Morn listed above, but thought that was for the skinny stripe on the edge of the runner, not for the walls. Sorry about that. I’ll definitely check out Healing Aloe as well.
Thanks for checking into the floor tile for me. Much appreciated!
Kerry,
the stripe and the wall are actually both Icy Morn. BM’s Palladium Blue is getting a lot of attention too, I feel like a designer mentions it every month in House Beautiful.
