Global Textiles Reach Fever Pitch

Hi friends.

As with any good trend, whether in home decor or a fashion, they run on a cycle through the industry that is fairly predictable. We often look to Meryl Streep from Devil Wears Prada to break this down for us.

Here at TEOT, we have long known the day would arrive, but we think that our beloved African textiles are just about to hit their climax. And we want all y’all to get on board!

What does that mean exactly. Well, for us it means visual affirmation as most television shows have employed used of these textiles in their set design. Sarah said she caught an African Indigo pillow in a Geico commercial the other day. Additionally, it means that all of our big box stores, catalog and even our discount stores are popping up with their own mass produced options.

We’ve collected a few of our favorites below.

Tell us what you think of the mass produced and widely available options that we have sourced for you here.

Of course the sad aspect of the cycle for shops like TEOT — is that it means our handmade versions that we employ seamstresses to stitch for us, made from the textiles that we source from Malian dealers at the antique markets here in Los Angeles, may be seeing less and less from us as we compete with Target for the spotlight! But, we know that’s half the fun, and we’re not going to stop loving the real thing anytime soon.

Y’all into it?
