Many of you design lovers know that there are a lot of great rooms out there that include an exotic or international element. Hammam towels, kilims, morrocan poufs, Senegalese baskets…you get the idea and you’ve probably seen one or all of these in your favorite spaces.
National Geographic created Novica, a retail site offering the consumer access to some great international artisans and those artists access to a global market.
Novica has offered two TEOT readers a $50.00 gift certificate to use for purchase on their site.
To collect on this generous prize all you gotta do is leave a comment and tell us what your favorite international design element is and it doesn’t just have to be an accessory it can be an architectural or design influence. The randomly selected winners will be announced next Tuesday, March 6, 2012, so check back!
I scoped the site and here are some of my favorites,
for some reason I keep envisioning these cotton sling chairs on a lake house deck
In addition to some great stuff for the home, Novica also offers beautiful jewelry and accessories for men and women from all over the world.

Thanks for playing,
I like items that can be used regularly–like special ceramic dishes.
I like he fact they have style and function. Ceramic dishes that you can both cook with and put on display as artwork or handwoven scarves that can be stylish for your outfit and for your table top.
Favorite international design element – the one that tells a story of the place and the people that live there.
Checked out the site and really love the mirrors. I like that global designs add instant interest to a room. Adds a certain inviting quality too.
I adore the tapestries. I love a tapestry’s ability to tell a story and provide a distinct, cultural flair to any room.
I love ceramic garden stools from China!

I love the pretty Two Fridas jewelry box that is decoupaged and made of wood straight from Mexico…birthplace of the artist Frida Kahlo.
i love antiques, and not necessarily ones that have a large monetary value. for example, green milkglass bowls, or rush woven chairs. these things remind me of my granny’s house, so they are of sentimental value to me. i also love anything that looks like an artifact from the Titanic. that event in history, and even the movie, touches me so much emotionally that it kinda transports me in time. having a room set aside just for tea is so cool! thank you for the giveaway!
i love their products..especially the Cotton scarf, ‘Scarlet Sky’
