Cali Chalet: Pitched Gables

So, I’m just here for a quick post today.

Our renovation up in the San Bernardino Mountains has been moving right along as I’ve been neglecting the blog, so let’s have a quick look at the roof.

While negotiating the purchase of this house, we ran into a hefty estimate to replace the roof. It was long overdue and the interior had already seen water damage from neglect. So, after some back and forth with our sellers, we got them to meet us halfway on cost and knocked down the sales price.

Once the project got going, we took the opportunity to straighten out the eaves. The results are in.

Quite the difference and a decision that I’m glad we made.

Now, we patiently await Spring and consider the exterior paint. Those new fascia are partially painted in the proper trim color at the moment. But I rather like them lighter.

The decisions that we will be tossing around until Spring is to paint them light to match the body of the house and try to get away with another season or three before repainting the whole house… or will we go ahead and paint this entire body of the home a darker shade and match the trim for more of a tone on tone vibe.

I’m definitely excited about the latter for the future, it’s just a matter of when! Let’s dig into some inspiration.
