Mixing Styles

My heart is full of love, appreciation and desire for a mix of styles. Today I was perusing my likes on Pinterest and I realized that this foyer entryway with staircase is perfect, and there is no way that I’m going to be able to look at something as boho-homey as this each day if I’m living in a time capsule atomic ranch.

It’s okay, I can do without because I love most styles equally, but – it did leave me to wonder – what would it be like to update an old midcentury modern, if one started with rich interiors like this as their inspiration? I sSuppose it could go any number of ways including disastrous, but what if you could truly merge modern lines with traditional finishes, give it a boho twist and slather on some casual luxe?

So, I went on a hunt. And here is what I found.

Maybe Nickey Kehoe is the answer to this mash-up? I’ve referenced this image numerous times, as has Sarah. In fact she was just imploring the other day that I find this home here in LA and just move on in. Upon review, this isn’t an atomic ranch. It’s a more of a Spanish inspired cottage, likely built in the twenties – but I still think it showcases the possibilities for merging the styles.
