Our friend Kristin got some great 1960s ceramic lamps from her grandmother recently. Here they are…
To bring them up to date she needs to ditch the 3-foot tall, dingy, cylinder shade. Here are some shade options she’s considering,
Pottery Barn, Striped Drum
Pottery Barn, Natural Fiber
Pottery Barn, Grosgrain ribbon shade
IKEA, Kivsta shade
Â
Target, Barrel shade
Thanks for playing,
And now a quick word from our sponsors!

My vote is hands down for the grey Target Barrel.
Those ikea velour shades kinda gross me out.
Those are GREAT lamps that Kristin scored…. I’m envious.
Beautiful lamp bases. I could see them with a bold floral print shade.
word
I think Kristin currently loves the barrel shade at Target, but floral is a good idea too! Wonder who’s makin’ some custom shades on Etsy?
And to think I almost said no to em.. *gasp*. Im up for any good ideas when it comes to the shade… especially when it comes from my favorite design gurus!! I really do like the one from Target. Betsy, I agree the velour one makes me wanna throw up a bit. :-D ha!
You know what else I think is a neat idea, but might be a little more dramatic than you guys are hoping for over at Kristin’s house:
Find a really basic shape that you like in white and spray paint the crap out of it with high gloss white ala Eddie Ross:

It would look like a gleaming shining sculpture of a glossy lamp from heaven.
Wow. What a great find – a pile of Salvation Army drum shades. The paint looks great. (Topped only by the sight of a grown man wearing Uggs.)
Can’t say I support the sporting of the Uggs.
Haha. I thought the Uggs were funny on a grown man too. But he does kinda remind me of a 15 year old girl. I mean that with nothing but love.
