We received a lovely request from our reader friend and fellow blogger, asking for our ideas on her new home exterior!
I stumbled on the split level remodel from May 2015 and I thought ‘that’s exactly what I need’! My hubby and I only moved into our Los Angeles valley home 1 year ago and now I find out we’re moving to the San Diego area in 4 months!!! Holy cow! Not only did I not have time to remodel anything, I am not even all unpacked yet!
Can you throw some ideas our way for a quick update for the outside? It’s very much a cottage style as is common here in L.A. And although it’s attractive, it’s in super need of updating and modernizing. I am not a designer and need ideas that are fast to do. All I know to do to update the style is to take off the shutters and window boxes, paint it white, get a new front door and get windows without mullions. I know you two have clever ideas. What can be done here? Thanks for all your help!

You aren’t wrong in your punch list, and all of those changes alone would make a phenomenal difference to the face of your new home. Landscaping will get you a long way as well. Of course, it is hard not to look at that roofline and want to straighten a few things out, but I think what I’m hearing is your need for quick not major improvements.
