Pretty Pantry Doors

The door to the laundry room at the Bennett kitchen renovation is a newly installed pocket door. I’m thinking about painting it an accent color and I’m considering a bright, pacific blue like this fabric,

Aqua is a big fan favorite as an accent color but I don’t think that’s right for this project. I want a more saturated, stand out color. Here’s the path that others have taken,

I really like this one,

Green Kitchen Cabinets

Green Kitchen Cabinets  |  A 2016 Kitchen Trend to Love!

Certainly blue, in different shades like navy and blue/grey, is having it’s moment for kitchen islands and lower cabinets … but green?  Green Kitchen Cabinets are pretty happenin’ too.

Let’s see if any of these images set your wheels spinning, like they have ours.

One person who pinned this kitchen said, I can’t get Bailey McCarthy’s kitchen out of my head. It’s fairly easy to see why she can’t–cause that is kelly and it’s high gloss. McCarthy’s kitchen was featured in Southern Living.

Kelly Green Kitchen Cabinets

Another designer who chose to go green in her own kitchen is Erika Powell from Urban Grace. Erika had her cabinets painted a couple of years ago. I wonder if Erika considered painting the open shelving white? We really love the selection of a more subtle sage hue. It’s decidedly more neutral, while still quite modern. Hence, it gets an A+ from us!

Betsy and I are big fans of CA designer Kishani Perera. Like the McCarthy design above, the Kelly Green choice seen here is also pretty freakin’ bold. Go big, Kishani!

Another option? You could go more on the camo / Army green side of green. We whole heartedly support this idea, since army green everything is pretty good in our books lately.

Army Green Kitchen Cabinets

Of all the green kitchen cabinets that I found, this is my favorite. The suspended shelves with those cable brackets are very cool. And how about that beam? What would you call this color? A muted Pesto? Olive?

Sage Green Kitchen Cabinets

The hue looks great with brass and gold metal finishes, that is for certain. This mix is so lovely with the nice organic wood tones too!

Hunter Green Kitchen Cabinets

Here we find a green on the more neutral side of things. The ideas is still pretty pretty sweet in celery. I have noticed that most of these are best paired with white uppers and a classic subway tile. It sets a nice stage for statement lighting.

Ooh, now this looks like pesto and it pairs really nicely with a toned creamy beige up top. Just look at all that carefully planned kitchenware in those cabinets.

Pesto Green Kitchen Cabinets

Since we can’t seem to get enough of green kitchen cabinets, here is one more with a sage on top and bottom, just because it looks so great on these tall cabinets.

Tall Green Kitchen Cabinets

So what do you think? Seems like we are totally into it. Are you prepared to take an official position on green kitchen cabinets?

If so write to us…in the comments. Most of all, we want to hear your favorite hues, the best hardware finishes and how you’d apply this look to your dream kitchen!

Grout Cottage: Interior Paint Colors

Grout Interior PaintI stayed relatively neutral with all of my choices because it’s not my living space– it was made to be attractive to all sorts of prospective tenants. I got to try out some new grays, Classic Gray and Moonshine. I especially loved Moonshine. Simply White is my new go to trim color and Woodlawn Blue was great for the bath in Apartment B. If you’re looking for a “greige” I’d test Classic Gray. If you’re curious about which colors went where, they will all be labeled on the posts about the individual rooms.

Blush & Bashful

My finger, on the pulse of y’alls reaction to the Pantone Marsala announcement, well – it tells me that you aren’t so excited.  But what if we just pretend that what Pantone really meant to say was: Pink. The folks over at Dering Hall suggested it and I’m inclined to agree, so now it’s got me digging and thinking.

I feel that it is at it’s best when its the blushy kind, not that alarming electric hot kind, but rather a dirty baby soft and warm shade is where it’s at. Y’all feel me? Jump in and then let me know what you think about all of this?

Dusty Rose Blush Pink Walls

This is how blush is presentedat the Riad Charai in Marrakech. It’s inspiring.

Jungalow Pink Justina Blakeny

Justina revealed her new jungalow headquarters. I’m always excited when a blogger levels up and Justina didn’t disappoint with her big pink armoire.

Eleanors Nursery

This ceramic elephant is a sweet little detail that inspired Sarah in Laney’s nursery. Sarah jumped into the pink for that room, a perfect choice for a baby girl naturally, and the results were more sweet than saccharine!

Burlingame Sofa by Madeline Stuart

What a knowing color to luxuriate on when offered up as a velvet sofa. These traditional lines and finishes could offer just the right air of bohemian sophistication in my imagined setting. I just love the muddy tint, like a pink that has lost a bit of its innocence.

Dimore Studio

This room by Dimore Studio just smacks of another element in interior design photography that I’m all about, which is the mood and airiness of these rich saturated walls. Here, the breathy charcoal swallows up a dusty rose duvet with shadowy mystery.

Dusty Rose Hair

I like to think that I march to the beat of my own drum where it comes to fashion. Yet, I’ve been rocking the ubiquitous dusty rose pink locks thing since I first met Heffe, four years ago. I’ve recently cut it all out. He asked me to go back the other day, and I had to tell him that I’m not sure I can, b/c I keep reading about how this look is OUT! And you know what I hear is on it’s way in? Metallic hair. Perfect, I’ve alway battled with the brass.

The Very Best of…Front Door Colors

This is our edition of the Very Best of…Front Door Colors— of course until there are more that surpass these in bestiness.

This door is on an interesting modern Georgian farmhouse fusion, pretty wild combo

yellow door2

I’ve always liked this simple modern entry

yellow door

The old Blueprint mag cover. Makes you want to go out paint your whole cottage white with a little black trim on the gables, get some modern steel house numbers and some of those barn lights from Lowes, and don’t forget your IKEA watering can to get all styled up for your photo opp.

This is really tempting to me. I have warm brown shingles on my house with white trim and I’ve really been thinking about this,

blue on shingles

Before we could spruce up the Connecticut Ave duplex, I painted the front doors a color similar to this to shape the place up temporarily. It’s a stately blue.

dark blue door

I know all you beachy cottage loving boys and girls want to know what this color is and according to most sources on the interwebs, it’s Ben Moore’s Wythe Blue

We couldn’t talk about front door color without mentioning the exquisite front entry of the townhome of designer Miles Redd,

Even if this is not your style, surely you must appreciate the detail and sophistication here,

Again with that quiet blue/green,

OK things got a bit serious there now we’re back to a little more fun in a coastal cottage with robin’s egg blue paired with yellow shingles,

I love those big tall french entry doors with a quarter of the bottom a solid panel and lime green well that just makes it all the more better, again with the barn light

the contrast is paramount here, love it

having a little fun with a traditional entry, clearly there was risk that the gas lanterns were going to make things too formal,

this shade of spruce green is so rich, wonder if it’s pine scented?

Coral and navy, now that’s something you don’t see everyday

a pattern will emerge, light blue likes to commiserate with orange quite often

and rounding up the round up, is pink and peach on old brick, pretty dope if you ask me. Please email me if you actually do this to your brick house and then convince your neighbor to use the other color.
