Holly Carter on One Kings Lane

I often take the opportunity to visit the sites of designers who have featured items on One Kings Lane. It’s an introduction to some designers who I might not have normally discovered.

Holly Carter joins that group of designers this week who have curated shops on OKL. Although Holly is from Bucks County, Pennsylvania she is now based in Southern Pines, North Carolina–my hometown. I noticed her new shop pop up in our little downtown area on Broad Street.

In addition to being a seasoned interior designer and remodeler, Holly is also a champion equestrian. The equestrian influence shows in her design and in her OKL shop.  Her love of horses I’m guessing is what may have brought her to Southern Pines, there is a huge equestrian community here.

Although the portfolio on Holly’s site is not quite complete yet, I noticed that one of her recent projects listed is The Sly Fox, which is a relatively new pub that also happens to be my husband’s favorite restaurant. I always thought that the Fox’s interior appeared to have been guided by a designer, now I know…

And I’m not entirely sure but I think Holly may have looked at the Indiana Project when she was house hunting. I remember our real estate agent mentioning someone from PA who had design or remodeling experience touring the house. I don’t think the house suited her but the connection is still fun. Wonder what she thought of it, maybe I’ll just have to ask.

Holly Carter’s sale ends at OKL on Saturday 2/19.

Yo! It’s Betsy and I haven’t bloggered here in a long time…. but let me tell ya a little secret. I finally saw something that made me WANT to… Looky!

You can click on the image to see more decor by Diamond Baratta, but honestly I wouldn’t – else you might lose faith in why I’ve ever tried to blog about interior design in my life. (Just kidding, its a totally great article, and I really like the concepts in it, I just don’t really care for the overall product. I think its a little bit much How bout you?) I do dig this particular picture though, from the exaggerated iron door hinges, to the shape of the wooden bench (similar),  and of course the obvious waterfall of black and white stair runner butted up against faux bois. Fun with Monochrome!!

Browsing: Designer Molly Leutkemeyer

Molly Leutkemeyer’s portfolio is a real treasure trove, you should probably take a look…you know just to be safe.

Molly titled her blog mollyloot which I think is funny. There she provides some good eye candy and most importantly some good tips on design.

Here are some of my favorites,

kickin’ it off with a bang and yet another example of a compelling visual argument to paint the backs of those bookshelves, interiors bookshelf interiors bedroom interiors bath

I can’t tell if I should take this seriously or not, wonder if Molly resisted and the homeowner really wanted to hang the portrait there? Also upon first inspection I thought it was young Emilio Estevez but then…no not so much. interiors bath portrait

Jesse Carrier and The Glass House

Jesse Carrier designed The Glass House Fit For A Family in the August issue of Elle Decor.

I have fallen hard for this house. This house has a great mix of styles and a sense of youthfulness.  I think it embodies a lot of what the preferred style of most is today which is– a space that has a sense of personality, is livable, functional and at the same time presents a sense of history or tells a story about the people that dwell there. I read a decent amount of design blogs everyday and I feel like the overall aesthetic represented in this home is what most design pundits are yapping about, including myself.

The Fielden home manages to read modern, casual and liveable for three kids yet houses a French provincial dining table, Chinese porcelain panels and a Chippendale-style breakfront.

Jesse Carrier knocks it out of the park, again. When the couple wants to incorporate family heirlooms that have little relevancy to the architectural style of the house, Carrier edits but manages to incorporate a lot of their family’s inherited treasures.
