Gotta pick the right sofa because everyone likes to #netflixandchill.

Better Things + Aelfie

I’ve always liked Pamela Adlon since the days of Marcy Runkle (of Californication,) but now I worship her. Based loosely on her own life and experiences, she plays Sam, a single parent to 3 girls, each amazing in their own rite. There are truly hilarious moments, raw moments, incredible longing and sad moments. There is unconditional love and samples of the sacrifice that parenthood brings, especially the difficulty of being a single parent. But then there are more hilarious moments that keep you battling through and rooting for Sam and her girls. Better Things is brilliant and we can’t help but wonder where does show creator and actress Pamela Adlon go from here… to the moon? Pile a lot of pillows on the suitably bold & fun Alfie sofa, grab a blanket and watch this magic. Bonus – Sam’s categorically LA Spanish casa is pretty great looking, especially the art.

Ozark + Kathy

Ooh, we love a crime drama. This one features Jason Bateman in a serious role as a family man/Accountant who has found himself desperately trapped in a life-or-death deal when his partner messes over a client who happens to be a latin gangster. The family runs off to rebuild in the foggy landscape on the banks of “Magic Dragon” Lake in the Ozarks, an idyllic vacation community where you’d least expect the kind of crime that led them there. It doesn’t take long for the family to find their foothold among the local flavor and before you know it, you’ve got a captivating series. Sink in to Moss Studio’s skirted Kathy sofa (one of my long time faves) and see if Bateman and family make it another day. Bonus here too – You are sure to love the architectural detail of the lakeside midcentury where they find residence!

Find OZARK on Netflix.

Big Mouth + Monroe

An animated series by Nick Kroll that is a hilarious and raunchy look at puberty and the changes we go through in early teen years from a male and female perspective. It’s a coming of age series, complete with hormone monsters and in our house, we’ve watched twice through already.

Rectify + Leonelle

Rectify is a dive in to a man’s release from death row and his struggle to regain his life. Set in the American south, it’s a story that is becoming all too familiar today–exoneration and the failures of the criminal justice system.

Catastrophe + the TEOT ROLL ARM

Catastrophe is a romantic comedy but not in an Aniston kind of way. Hilarious and raw, you’ll blast through this 30 minute long Amazon show on a sofa of our own design. With a 42″ luxe depth seat, you can comfortably get the whole season done. And we like the sofa pairing b/c much like our own version of the Roll Arm is a new and improved versions of something the market didn’t have to offer us, we think that Catastrophe is a breath of fresh air for the TV market — where it comes to comedy with a side of reality.

Billions + MGBW HUNTER

Every once in a while a show pops up that glorifies the inner workings of an exciting industry and it excites and delights us all with tall tales and twisted drama. Billions is that show. In a surprising twist, we are pulled into the passionate drama between a US District Attorney and his dashing wife the queen of lariat necklaces and their entangled dealings with NYC local Billionaire and insider trading

We do it sheerly for the purpose of being able to talk about television in a home decor related way here on this home decor blog!!!?

Yay. Let’s dive into episode two!

Mr. RobotBryght Sven

Very 1984, but this time we’re revolutionizing and taking back society with the help of high level hackers. Dark, technologically charged and constantly questioning the share or — rather overshare of our lives and ourselves on the internet. Mr. Robot is dark, intense and it sometimes leaves us wondering what reality is.

TogethernessRoger + Chris’ Basel

Die-hard Amanda Peet fans and fans of the Duplass brothers will certainly enjoy this HBO comedy/drama. I feel like every show that I watch about thirty-somethings is examining fidelity and identity or the loss of it and this show is no exception.

The People vs. OJ Simpson + Ethan Allen’s Melrose

In June of 1994 I was 13 years old, a little young to understand all that was happening but I was aware. This was a great series and it was fun to do some fact checking along the way. A must see this year. I can’t wait to see the actors that played Marcia Clark and Chris Darden playing other roles in the future. A companion show of sorts is the ESPN 30 for 30 called June 17, 1994. The short film intertwines the O.J. Bronco chase with record setting sporting events, it was a crazy week.

Did you know that “NetflixandChill” is a code phrase in the online dating world? Ah, the things we miss out on being all coupled up in 2016.

But, whether you are on Tinder or not, don’t we all love a good night in with a cuddle on the couch and some marathon TV, you know for the actual purposes of devouring your latest TV thrill?

Turns out, we at TEOT have a fascination with the darker side of the drama spectrum. To lighten things up a bit, we’ve paired our juiciest marathon obsessions with an equally intriguing sofa, for a combo worthy of its own meme.

When it’s time to binge watch, we whole-heartedly endorse these streaming and sofa combos.

Making a MurdererRestoration Hardware’s Belgian Classic Slope Arm

You basically have a civic or really a human duty to watch the 10 episode documentary series on Netflix called Making a Murderer. It’s a documentary deep dive into a murder mystery the likes of our favorite podcast SERIAL. Has the justice system failed an innocent citizen? Is there a vast government conspiracy at work? Sink into the luxe depth of the Classic Slope Arm and try to keep up with the details.

_Braxton-and-Fargo-TEOT-TV-SOFA

FargoJoybird’s Braxton Sectional

The FX series based on the Cohen Brothers film of the same name is Billy Bob with creepy bangs, its a classic Cohen, “take no prisoners,” split-screen delight with a great soundtrack. If you like dark comedy, you may agree that this series was the best thing on TV all year. We’ll take it stretched out on the midcentury lines of the Braxton of course.

_Willoughby-Sofa-and-the-Returned

The Returned + The Willoughby

(the French version, you gotta watch the original French version available on Sundance & Amazon)
It’s a slow horror series with a look at humanity through the kind of dark lens that only the European can hold up. Encroaching waters threaten a small lakeside town, haunted with the supernatural return of formerly deceased loved ones and the leftover anguish from serial murderer. You need a deep, dark lived in velvet sofa with classic lines to envelop you and cradle you throught this rocking cerebreal horror. We think Anthropologie’s classic roll arm sofa in Forest Green will do.

Some rooms I just can’t get out of my head right now…

the bookshelves are a little scant for my taste but I love the kilim, chesterfield sofas and the brass coffee table.

Sarah Richardson design, I’ve come to realize that I really enjoy the sun streaming through the windows when I’m taking a shower. Skylights and plentiful windows in the bathroom is the way to go.
