Paul Costello Photography

Photographer Paul Costello has shot some of my favorite interiors featured in Domino.  For me his portfolio of interiors is a gold mine.  Many of these images were and still are very inspiring to me.  I’m sure Paul’s work has been blogged about many times over but I’m glad to reference it here on The Estate of Things…just in case you haven’t seen it or maybe forgot about some of these interiors, here’s a refresher.  Reminds me again of how much I will miss cozying up to a new Domino each month.

I bought two armchairs at Design Archives in Greensboro, NC for $40, almost identical to the ones featured in Sara Costello’s living room. I painted them black and had new cushions made to look exactly like the ones in image.  Aqua and moss have always been a favorite color combo of mine ever since I saw this image.

Ione Skye’s home has been in my top ten since it graced the pages of Domino a couple of years ago. Costello did a great job of capturing sunny California living.  The perfect mix of modern and bohemian style. Loved Ione ever since Say Anything.

  1. We recently received an inquiry about the nightstand in Ione Skye’s bedroom. Here’s what I found…

Apartment Therapy covered this exact same thing. Some were suggesting that it was the work of Italian architect and designer Piero Lissoni for Cappellini and that it was the “Soho”. It may be Lissoni but I don’t think it’s the “Soho” cabinet. The Soho Cabinet was selling at The Conran Shop in NYC for over 4K and it is much more of a sideboard but with the same lacquered finish BUT I am not seeing it on the website now. I checked the Cappellini site for Lissoni and didn’t find anything, however Unica Home carries some Lissoni.
