Your MAD MEN Decor starts with an Etched Number Glasses GIVEAWAY!!

14 Jan

The world is abuzz with the aesthetic accuracy and overwhelmingly authentic homage to Mid-Century lifestyle and design seen in AMC’s hit TV show Mad Men and its no surprise that they captured Golden Globe’s BEST SERIES for the second year in a row. Design bloggers have been on this tip for some time, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed their design tips in reference to the show.

I just recently watched the entire first season in two sittings. It took me about two weeks to stop fantasizing my everyday life was that of a Manhattanite Secretary from the 60s.

The Estate of Things chooses Mad Men Set Decor

So, we want to help you get started on your Mad Men Interiors by offering you these RAD glasses. Perfect for sipping on your highball while you watch the show. They come from Etsy Seller of the week, Sweetshorn .

The Sweet Etched Number Glasses were TEOT’s pick for favorites from the many treasures that Alia at Sweetshorn has collected and she’s been kind enough to offer them to a specially chosen TEOT reader. Take a look at her other items and feel free to drop her a line to tell her how rad she is for the well curated collection of vintage finds, killer presentation too!

So how do you get your hands on these glasses!? Just write in and tell us which Television Shows and/or Movies have inspired you in your home decor!? We would certainly love to post pictures in your comment for you (if you have them email them to betsy@theestateofthings.com) but they are certainly not required!!

Need these! I’m the biggest Mad Men fan! I have looked a bit more into vintage, 1960′s elements for my room since watching. The big change though has been my work wardrobe…I like to rock the Joan Holloway look.

Thank you so much, ladies! I am continually inspired by The Royal Tennenbaums and Marie Antoinette. I look forward to hearing what your other readers have to say.

An unexpected Movie that would be so much fun to draw from is “But I’m a Cheerleader”. Its a gas.

Here’s the screenshots I could find online (but you’ve got to the see the movie itself…..)

I would have to say Sex and the City. I loved Samantha’s apartment. Modern and chic.

I’ve got a few movie sets that I like to reference occasionally–one is Uma Thurman’s apartment in the movie Prime.

    Movie:Revolutionary Road – great movie

This movie was perfectly staged for the 50′s era.
The kitchen had the glass percolator, living room had a slick three legged round coffee table, short round lamp shades. 50′s classic down to the gas stove. Enjoy!

Anna – Wow! I’m inspired, I can’t wait to see this movie now!!

PS – I’ve added movie stills to each of your comments – to illustrate each selection – I did the best I could do with what was available online. :)

    Thanks,
    Betsy!!

I absolutely love the movie, “Stranger Than Fiction” and especially Miss. Pascal’s apartment. I searched hi and low for closer shot of the chandelier over her dinner room table, but couldn’t really find anything. Anyways, I love her patch work, vintage feminine still of her apartment and bakery.

Another Di Caprio movie, “Catch Me If You Can”. Loved the trailer

When I (finally) get my own place I will decorate it like Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) in the movie HEAT – what am I talking about…

In the movie, Neil lives on the beach and does not have a stick of furniture in his house. He has a chair, a table, and a coffee cup. In fact, the whole look of the movie has a minimalist feel.

Neil’s house, McCauley’s (Al Pacino) house, Broadway Deli, and Kate Mantilini are all great locations in the movie and they match the look and feel that I would want in my home.

Thanks! I’ve been thinking about my early design inspirations and remembered Iona’s apartment from Pretty in Pink (my favorite movie in high school). I thought she was so cool! Did anyone else love it?

Hope to see you two soon for coffee or cocktails.

My apartment is inspired by Carrie’s in Sex and the City.. but more the TV show apt, not her movie apt. It’s simple, but gorgeous and homey!
